Yavneh students win academic chess match

A team of four students from Yavneh Day School — Aaron Ammerman, Micah Ammerman, Benjamin Hendel, and Sagee Moyal — recently took the prize for best private school in a regional academic chess championship. In addition, Sagee took first in section and Ben took second in section. One hundred seventeen players representing 41 Silicon Valley schools participated in the competition. Team scores were calculated by adding the points awarded to each member. The win was doubly impressive as some competing teams had five members contributing to their point total. The Yavneh team received a trophy engraved with their names, and each student received a medallion to commemorate their victory.
