Beneficiaries and Allocations

At Home: Local Allocations

Most of the money raised by the Federation Annual Campaign stays here in the Silicon Valley. The funds are focused in four main areas:

  • Family, Senior and Indigent Services
  • Community Center, Teens, Hillel & Summer Camp
  • Jewish Education
  • Émigré Services

Even in an affluent community such as ours there are still people who, for a variety of reasons, become indigent. We are there to provide assistance and help them get back on their feet. When a marriage is breaking apart, or a teenager is in trouble or a woman is the victim of spousal abuse, we are there to help. And when a senior is battling loneliness and isolation, we are there to provide assistance.

Last year we significantly increased our support for Jewish Education. The after school and day school programs all received increases. We also provide teacher training for all Jewish educators in the community. In addition, we provide learning opportunities for teens, Generation Xers, Baby Boomers and the general public.

The Silicon Valley continues to be a magnet for new immigrants. In the tradition of Maimonides' highest order of Tzedakah, the Jewish Family Services aids new immigrants to become self sufficient, Because of the outstanding work of JFS, the availability of jobs and the hard work of those in the program, fewer than five percent of our new immigrants are dependent on welfare after the first year.

Federation allocations to local programs reflect the priorities of the community. First, we provide assistance to those in need. And second, we inspire a new generation to embrace the beauty and richness of our Jewish heritage. As the Annual Campaign grows, so will our ability to serve the needs of the Silicon Valley Jewish community.
