Beneficiaries and Allocations International Rescue & Relief in Israel Assisting Those in Need For over fifty years now, this Federation has supported Israel. We have done this by funding programs to bring new immigrants and assist those in need. Over seventy percent of the funding is used to rescue and resettle new immigrants. Remember our struggle to obtain freedom for our brothers and sisters in the Soviet Union? Now that freedom to emigrate to Israel has been achieved, we must support those who choose to go. From Hebrew lessons and medical care to vocational training and housing, your contribution gives these new immigrants an opportunity to become productive members of Israeli society. The other thirty percent spent in Israel is used to help the poorest of the poor. Despite Israel's efforts to improve its economy, there are still thousands of children, elderly, disabled and others living in terrible poverty. We support a wide rage of programs aimed at helping those in poverty. Many of our programs are targeted to populations with special needs such as Ethiopian immigrants, seniors and single mothers. We also fund battered women's shelters, assisted living units for the disabled and residential treatment facilities for children who are victims of sexual abuse. If you are concerned about where your charitable dollars are going, come to Israel with the Federation on one of our Missions and you can see for yourself the incredible work your contribution makes possible. In Israel, you will be invited to conduct your own fact-finding to meet with the directors of the programs you fund and to look into the eyes of the recipients you assist.
