The Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley Celebrates it's 75th Anniversary!

This is a work in progress. Please help us by contributing comments or photos.

June 2, 1930

Phillip Hammer Sr. served as the Federation's first president in 1930

The San Jose Jewish Federation, now known as the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, was incorporated on June 2, 1930, in the city of San Jose. Phil Hammer Sr. was the first president, and helped launch the Federation with a small group of other people. The Federation could not have been founded at a more important time. As Hitler ascended to power in Germany, Anti-Semitism in America rose to its highest historical levels in the 1930s. Below is a partial recount of noteworthy changes at the Federation, and the San Jose Jewish Community, over the years.
